Sony and MRC’s "The Dark Tower" had the dubious distinction of topping U.S. box office on a weekend that proved fairly dismal for the studios. "Dark Tower" an adaption of of a series of fantasy books by horror author Stephen King, limped in at the top with just $18 million at 3,449 locations for the Friday-Sunday period, according to figures compiled by comScore.
"The Emoji Movie" clung to third place over the weekend, adding an additional $12 million domestically. Internationally, the China-originated "Wolf Warrior 2" continued to do big box office, adding $163.5M across six different territories and nearing the half a billion mark.
