Warner Brother's "Annabelle: Creation" $35 million in North American theaters over the weekend, providing a little hope for an otherwise sleepy August box office in North America. A sequel to 2014's "Annabelle" the film series is in itself, a spin-off of the ghostly "Conjuring" series, the modestly budgeted film garnered decent reviews and promised future films from the franchise.
Internationally, the Chinese-made "Wolf Warriors 2" continued to perform strongly, adding an estimated $83.6 million in international markets and approaching cumulative revenues of $700m. "Annabelle: Creation" also performed well abroad, adding another $36.7 million according to estimates compiled by comScore, while "Dunkirk" rounded out the top 3, adding $14.5 abroad.
