Third Man Records has opened a state-of-the-art vinyl production facility in the heart of Detroit's historic Cass Corridor neighborhood; and Jack White visited to celebrate the unveiling.

Third Man Records has opened its much anticipated vinyl production facility in Detroit. The pressing plant joins the existing Third Man record store and live venue already located in the city's Cass Corridor neighborhood.
Third Man Pressing brings upwards of 50 new living wage jobs with benefits into Detroit, on top of the 20 jobs already created by the Willy's building Third Man Records location. Combined with Shinola's recent start of production of high-end turntables, the launch marks the return of the record industry to the city.
The manufacturing facility will not only press vinyl records for Third Man Records' label releases, which will also continue to be produced at Nashville's United Record Pressing, but will also fulfill orders from outside labels.
“It’s a natural continuation of what we built with the storefront here and the live venue,” musician and entrepreneur Jack White told a local TV station. “The dream was to be able to have a plant that people could see records being pressed and you could buy those records immediately … which doesn’t exist anywhere in the world. Trying to make things that have never existed before is sort of our goal at Third Man all the time.”
