Chinese action adventure "Wolf Warriors 2" topped the weekend's global box office, clearing an estimated $125m after opening in just 5 territories. Directed by Wu Jing and starring Wu Jing in the lead role as a Chinese special forces soldier battling with a drug lord. "Wolf Warriors 2" also stars Celina Jade, Frank Grillo and Hans Zhang, and is a sequel to a 2015 film that was unsurprisingly named "Wolf Warriors."

While Chinese cinema's Wolf Warriors 2 ran rough shod over international markets, Chris Nolan's/Warner Bros. "Dunkirk" took top honors in North America. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, and Harry Styles among others, "Dunkirk" portrays the desperate evacuation of the British Expeditionary Forces from the French coastal town of Dunkirk at the start of World War 2.
The film has been lauded by the critical press, and already generated an estimated 234 million in revenue since release. While in its second week domestically, "Dunkirk" handily bested Sony's "Emoji Movie" an animated comedy that brings to life those irritating little text faces on the big screen. I mean, who wouldn't want to sit through an hour and a half of that?
"Emoji" features the voice acting chops of TJ Miller, Anna Faris, Maya Rudolph and James Corden. So far, the movie failed to resonate with critics, who roundly panned it and with audiences, only generating an estimated $25.6M on its debut weekend.
