Lyft Joins With Ghostbusters to Offer Free Ecto-1 Rides #LyftGhostMode

LYFT_ECTO_Blog_webGoing out ghostbusting? Who you gonna call?

Lyft, of course!

The popular ride-sharing service is celebrating the release of new Ghostbusters movie by giving free Ecto-1 rides in Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., this weekend.

To promote the new Ghostbusters movie coming out July 15, which stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, Lyft is putting a fleet of 25 Ecto-1s on the road. Simply use the Lyft app to request a ride in Ghost Mode for a free, tricked-out trip to another dimension -- as well as a chance to win tickets to the Ghostbusters premiere in Los Angeles.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Ecto-1 used in this summer's Ghostbuster reboot is a repurposed 1980 Cadillac Fleetwood hearse, painted in a similar style to the original, with Ghostbusters logos on the doors. Based on demand, passengers will get rides in actual cars from the film and other replica models, as well as custom-wrapped Toyota Highlanders made to look like the Ecto-1. They'll have five Ghostbuster-themed vehicles available in each city between the hours of 10am and 6pm on both Friday, July 1, and Saturday, July 2.

Each vehicle will play the Ghostbusters soundtrack and be driven by someone dressed like a Ghostbuster character. They'll also have Hi-C Ecto Coolers and Ghostbusters-themed Twinkies along for the passengers.
